'Gotham' Season 2 Release, Spoiler News, And More: Penguin Has Ax To Grind Vs Gordon

Fans still have to wait around two months until "Gotham" season 2 release date arrives.

When this day comes, the bigger picture will be Detective James Gordon (Ben McKenzie) with his back on the wall. This is because of the rise of the villains showrunners previously stated.

Bruno Heller and Danny Cannon told reporters the sophomore run of their Fox TV series will be more about the introduction of famous Batman rogues.

James somehow had an unexpected ally in the first season, the ambitious mob member Oswald Cobblepot (Robin Lord Taylor). However, when "Gotham" season 2 release its first episode, they will find each other on other sides for most of the time.

Taylor said Cobblepot's respect for Gordon is lost after what the latter did to him in the explosive finale.

"I think in the first season he really did want to be friends with Gordon. He said that Gordon was one of the two people he trusted in Gotham City, the other being his mother, of course," Taylor said in an interview with Zap2It.

"I think he was deeply hurt by the betrayal Gordon showed him in the finale. He was going to leave him there to die in a hospital handcuffed to a radiator."

Cobblepot's mission in the second season of "Gotham" is to retain his position as the king of the underworld. He worked hard to get it but it won't be long before someone try to steal the throne. With this goal, he understands that he will somehow be forced to work with Gordon.

"He understands that he needs an ally on that side, so it's more tense now," the actor said.

"It's one thing to crawl your way to the top. To maintain your place there is another story," Taylor says. "I think that's the reason he doesn't abuse it. He does understand that you have to have people's respect and trust to stay in a place like that, even in the underbelly of Gotham City."

"Gotham" season 2 release date is September 21.
