Valve's Marc Laidlaw gives hope to "Half Life" fans, that the next franchise might still come into light.
Few days ago, a video from The Know claims that "Half Life 3" would never release, because Valve has already generating so much money on Steam and from its microtransactions, and fans backlash on "Mass Effect 3" had pushed "Half Life 3" to lower priority status, Lazy Gamer reported.
The video also claims that Valve fears to release the game due to "gamer culture" being toxic and people had set the bar too high on "Half Life 3", Gaming Bolt added.
Amidst the onslaught request of another franchise, this speculation from The Know had brought disappointment on "Half Life" diehard fans.
But in a recent Reddit response, Valve's Marc Laidlaw responded to rumors that "Half Life 3" release won't be happening, Forbes reported
"I can't comment on Valve's internal process, but it sounds like someone is trolling. Anonymous sources have been posting speculation masquerading as inside knowledge since the Half-Life 1 delay in 1997. If it's any comfort, please rest assured that in my experience at Valve, fear is the last thing that would ever drive a decision about what to work on," he said on his response according to Segment Next
"The story is created through the process of trying to figure out how to best use the features of the engine within the interesting set of constraints it poses. The story is part of the game. It doesn't exist as a separate script that is handed off to game designers which they are expected to somehow make compelling through puzzles and combat."
Though he did not revealed specific details of the "Half Life 3", his response has hinted that Valve might still release a third instalment- if it won't be next year, maybe in the coming years.
