Hearts shattered everywhere when zombie mafia boss Blaine (David Anders) shot "the cute guy from 'Merlin.'"
Will "iZombie' season 2 bring in another Lowell to further stomp on the broken pieces of its avid followers' hearts?
According to executive producer Rob Thomas, he had initially been proud of Bradley James' character arc, including his early death in the series. However, he was "shocked" after receiving several not-so-nice reactions on social media.
Lowell's short time as Liv Moore's (Rose McIver) zombie lover captured the attention of several fans and his death definitely broke their hopeful hearts.
According to the showrunner, there had been no social media presence during the "Veronica Mars" era so he didn't really feel the brunt of fans' anger whenever a character died on the show then.
This time, however, Twitter, Facebook and Instagrm were effective utilized by the show's followers.
"The response to the death of Lowell," he reportedly told i09 about which parts of the first season he could have changed. "I had no idea how that - that shocked me."
He also said, "And I was like, we're casting the cute guy from Merlin? And then we're going to kill him? Can't we just keep him? It's like the puppy that you're fostering and you've grown attached. And he was just endearing and delightful and it was heartbreaking."
Does this mean that Thomas would somehow bring Lowell back for a do-over in "iZombie" season 2?
From what has been revealed recently, it looks like Liv won't have time to socialize with new attractive zombies in the near future.
She will reportedly be starting the series pushing people away, including ex-fiance Major (Robert Buckley), who finally knew about her secret.
As for the possibility of Liv and Blaine (David Sanders) ever getting together in the future, Thomas didn't think that would work.
"We're not going to make him cuddly next year," he previously told TVLine. He will definitely not start getting all starry-eyed over Liv, especially after she injected him with the prototype cure.
Do you think Liv deserves to meet another Lowell in "iZombie" season 2 or should she just focus on eating brains and solving crimes for the time being?
