With the new partnership between Starbucks and transportation network company Lyft were made, Starbucks employee benefits have something new on the list - free transportation rides from home to work.
A blog post by Lyft said it is announcing a program that will provide more Starbucks employee benefits to baristas, such as free transportation to and from work in the coming months.
"Taking care of our communities is something we truly believe in, and we want to work with companies that share these values," the Lyft blog post said. "So, today, we're also announcing a program that will provide Starbucks Baristas with free Lyft rides to and from work, when they need it most."
This partnership adds to the long list of other Starbucks employee benefits they get from the coffee chain. According to Forbes, the company has been giving employees with tuition benefits and decent wages, making many to choose working for Starbucks than working for a company that does not offer a decent salary.
"This is just the beginning of a beautiful friendship," the company's new partner Lyft said on the additional Starbucks employee benefits. "In the days, months and years ahead, we'll bring our communities exciting new programs, products and more - one ride and one cup at a time."
Starbucks' new partner Lyft is a transportation network company based in San Francisco that administers "peer-to-peer ridesharing" by letting passengers connect with drivers who have a car - think of it as the Facebook of transportation.
Aside from the Starbucks employee benefits on free rides, this partnership also enables passengers to earn points through the Rewards program and lets drivers get Starbucks coffee themselves.
"Working with Starbucks also helps us bring our driver community closer together," the statement said. "We have long heard from drivers that Starbucks has become a place for them to connect with each other, and today's announcement helps continue this shared tradition."
The partnership with Lyft also makes Starbucks delivery service possible.
