Chris Brown visited the Philippines last week for a one-night concert but found himself barred from leaving the country due to a contract issue from a prior event.
According to CNN, the Grammy winning singer was stopped from exiting the country after he failed to show up at a New Year's eve concert. Yahoo News further reported that the religious sect, Iglesia Ni Cristo, filed the fraud case against him and his promoter John Michael Pio Roda.
He and his staff had been on their way to Hong Kong for another scheduled event.
He then turned to Twitter to comment about the ordeal. His comments were eventually deleted before he left the Philippines.
"This is a very serious situation and someone needs to be held accountable for mixing my name up in all this," he posted on the microblogging site last Friday. "I've done nothing wrong!!!"
He reiterated that he had nothing to do with the situation, adding that he "came back to Manila to do a make up show for New Years."
The musician was eventually allowed to leave the country after securing a clearance certificate from the Bureau of Immigration.
"Chris Brown was allowed to leave [the Philippines] because he had no derogatory record and there was no warrant of arrest against him," immigration spokeswoman, Elaine Tan, reportedly said in a statement.
On the other hand, his promoter was detained in Manila for the fraud case filed by the Iglesia Ni Cristo as well as for working in the country without a permit. He will be facing deportation and a criminal complaint that is still being reviewed in court.
Brown, meanwhile, immediately flew to Macau as soon as he was given clearance to depart the country.
"Yo Manila we love y'all but Macau is poppin' We're in a Rolls Royce baby!" the American singer said in an Instagram video he posted after the whole ordeal.
According to Yahoo, Chris Brown's delayed departure from the Philippines nearly cost him his world tour.
