While viewers were left in tears after witnessing the death of Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) in "Avengers: Age of Ultron," there are now reports claiming that Marvel could actually bring the new character back to life in "Avengers 3."
Will fans get to see Quicksilver again after three years?
While he did not confirm his return, Aaron Taylor-Johnson's previous interview with Cinema Blend, revealing that there's actually a version of the story where his character would have survived the movie, immediately fueled speculations that Marvel would indeed resurrect Quicksilver in "Avengers: Infinity War."
"It's [the] Marvel universe," he said.
"It was very much our intention to kind of go the way we did. There was a costume designed for whether... if I didn't [die]. Which was f*****g really cool. I was like, 'Oh my God.'
I'm not sure if I really can really go down that realm, but you know, yeah, it was definitely an alternative, that I think they had to play with. But, it was very much set from the very beginning, and Joss had in mind to tell the story that he told... and I was very game for that, as well, because I think it really gives [the movie] sort of an emotional twist to it. A surprise."
Aaron Taylor-Johnson's character will reportedly get resurrected through a potion called Terrigen Mist.
The potion is described below as,
"The inhabitants of the Marvel Comics universe have believed that Terrigen Mists were toxic for regular Homo sapiens. When the depowered mutant Quicksilver subjected himself to the Mist, he gained the ability to travel through time as an acute enhancement to his former super-speed. Luna, Quicksilver's half-human half-inhuman daughter, gains psychic abilities from the Mists allowing her to see emotional auras emanating from individuals."
However, despite fans' call to bring Quicksilver back in "Avengers 3," director Joss Whedon thinks that it's better for his character to be dead.
"But it felt very disingenuous for me, especially the second time around, to make what I refer to as 'a war movie' and say that there is no price and everybody walks away. In this movie, we're saying, 'Prove to me that you guys are heroes.' And he's the guy that does it," he explained in an interview with Empire."
Meanwhile, he admitted that his powers in deciding who will live and who will die in Marvel Cinematic Universe is limited, thus anything can happen depending on the executives' decision.
"I said to Aaron, 'The only way you'll stay alive is if the Disney executives say, 'Hey idiot, this is a franchise, and we need all these people and you're not allowed to kill them off!' We did actually shoot him in the last scene, in an outfit, with his sister. We also shot him, waking up, saying, 'Ah, I didn't really die from these 47 bullet wounds!' Actually, we shot something else with that, but... maybe I'll let you know about that later."
Marvel's "Avengers" franchise is slated to end in a two-part series titled "Avengers: Infinity Part 1 and 2," scheduled on May 2018 and 2019.
According to Chris Evans, "Avengers 3" production will most likely start in fall or winter of next year.
"We start 'Captain America 3: Civil War' in a couple weeks," Evans, told Esquire and confirmed his return to the third sequel of the Avengers series.
"And then, that shoots until August or something like that. Then, I have got some downtime and I can do with it as I please, and then we start the 'Infinity War,' I think, sometime in the third quarter - fall or winter of 2016. That is going to be, like, nine months to shoot both movies back-to-back."
