After its record breaking box office success, Marvel is now moving forward with "Guardians of the Galaxy 2."
And while it's not until 2017 when fans wil get to see the team of intergalactic superheroes again, there are already rumors and speculations as to what could be expected in the sequel's plot.
Chris Pratt, who played the leader of the group, Star-Lord, had a sit down with Digital Spy where he shared his knowledge about the film's possible story.
"We've talked a little," Pratt answered when asked is he's already talking to director James Gunn about "Guardians of the Galaxy 2."
Furthermore, the 36-year-old comedian superhero revealed that in addition to the sequel's possible plot, he already knows some of the songs that will be included in his iconic "Walkman."
"I know some of the songs that are going to be on Awesome Mix Vol 2. What I will say is that [Gunn's] pitch and his ideas legitimately put tears in my eyes. It is so good, it's so good. I can not wait to get started on it and I can not wait for people to see what he's going to pull off with this second movie."
He also shared that Marvel executives have actually read the plot as well and he's confident that Gunn's work is going to be a blast for the second time.
"It's so big and so good. From what I understand, Marvel [heard Gunn's pitch] and they said nothing. [It] was that perfect. There was no micromanaging of the idea. They just love it so much they didn't have any notes for it. It's going to be remarkable."
And while he did not divulge anything specific about "Guardians of the Galaxy 2" story, director James Gunn teased fans on what they could expect about the sequel.
"I think it's a more emotional movie," Gunn told Screen Crush. "It's both a bigger movie and a smaller movie because we focus more intensely on some of the characters."
In a press conference, Gunn said that the sequel's plot will now focus on the characters' individual story, prior to becoming the Guardians of the Galaxy.
"There's just too many characters, so you can't concentrate on one and really get to know that character," he said. "I really want to get to know the characters that we know better, and yeah, we will be introducing a new character."
Furthermore, in a separate interview with Alison Rosen Is Your New Best Friend podcast, which was translated to text by FilmDrunk, Gunn confessed that the movie will most likely deviate from the comics.
"It's not really based on anything. The story for 'Guardians 2' is an original story that I came up with that I started working on actually while I was shooting 'Guardians 1,' and it'll answer some of the questions that were put forth in the first movie about Peter Quill's father and who he is and what's going on with that, he said of the sequel's storyline.
"We'll get to know some of the characters a little bit more and then we're going to meet a couple of new characters who will be very important to 'Guardians' movies and probably important to the Marvel Universe as a whole."
Adding, "It's different than what's in the comic books. Peter Quill's father is somebody different in the comics. So then when the movie came out, we got green-lit on the sequel right away. I went in and I sat down with those guys and I'm like, 'Okay, here's what I think the sequel should be.' And they were like, 'Oh, whoa. That's risky, but okay.' Now I'm going to turn over the story in a few short weeks and we'll find out how well it works."
"Guardians of the Galaxy 2" release date is set on May 5, 2017
