A month before its premiere date, new photos highlighting the main "Fear The Walking Dead" cast have surfaced. The photos give audiences a poignant reminder that the spinoff is "a family drama" set against the fall of civilization.
In the first photo from Entertainment Weekly, "we see Travis (Cliff Curtis) and Madison (Kim Dickens) along with Madison's children Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey) and Nick (Frank Dillane)." All of them look noticeably worried but the photo provides no context as to why.
EW thinks they could be looking at "walkers" for the first time. Unlike in "The Walking Dead" though, the confusion and misinformation doesn't make them fight or flee from the impending threat.
In another photo from Variety, the rest of the "Fear The Walking Dead" cast can be seen. This time, Travis' ex-wife Liza (Elizabeth Rodriguez) and son Christopher (Lorenzo James Henrie) take the spotlight.
Having moved in with Madison and her kids, the sight of Travis isn't exactly a welcome one from his estranged family.
"Travis is caught between his responsibilities to his existing family and the one he's trying to build with Madison - leaving Liza and Christopher looking decidedly displeased with him."
Unlike the main series, "Fear" will start right at the beginning of the viral outbreak that would eventually bring the zombie apocalypse. But instead of simply telling an origin story, the spinoff will explore a family dynamic.
"What we are trying to do is start with holding on to the family drama as our main story, and then bringing in the apocalypse into it," showrunner Dave Erickson told Variety. "For us it was a family drama, and then there were zombies."
With the premiere date approaching, AMC has kicked its hype machine into high gear with a string of teasers.
