The misunderstood CIA agent will return three months from now. "Homeland" season 5 premiere has been revealed.
Showtime announced that Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) will return to television on October 4. The announcement, which was carried out by Entertainment Weekly, also comes with a new poster carrying the show's new slogan.
"The network also released a poster for the new Berlin-set season (below), but that doesn't tell you much (and oddly enough, it doesn't take advantage of the show's new setting, which made Homeland the first U.S. TV series to shoot an entire season in Germany). There is new marketing tagline, however: "The only way out is back in."
So what are the things fans can expect when "Homeland" season 5 premiere arrives? There will be a two-year time jump from where the show ended in its fourth season.
The setting is now in Berlin where Carrie finds herself in a self-imposed exile in Berlin after feeling guilt over the things that happened when she was in Pakistan. Carrie is estranged to CIA and had a fallout with her mentor Saul (Mandy Patinkin).
Just last week, series creator Alex Gansa explained why the decided to move to Berlin for a new storyline for "Homeland" season 5.
"This story is current," he said of the new season. "With all of the stuff that's going on just south of Berlin in the Middle East and to the east in Russia and Ukraine, it's fascinating. Carrie is out of the intelligence business when the season starts and she finds herself in Berlin. It's a center for dissidence. That's where hacktivists go because German privacy laws are so strict. It's hard to have surveillance on people there."
While Saul and Peter Quinn (Rupert Friend) is expected to be seen in "Homeland" season 5 premiere, Carrie will also get to meet new friends, and probably a boyfriend.
"Homeland" season 5 spoiler news last May revealed Carrie will find herself in the arms of a Jonas Happich, to be played by Alexander Fehling who is known for his role in "Inglourious Basterds."
