‘I Can’t Believe You’re Leaving Me’ – President Obama Bids Jon Stewart Farewell As TV Show Host Steps Down

| By

During one of "The Daily Show's" final episodes with its host, President Obama bids Jon Stewart farewell.

"I can't believe you're leaving before me," Obama said. In fact, I'm issuing a new executive order that John Stewart cannot leave the show. It's being challenged in the courts."

After President Obama bids Jon Steward farewell, he goes on discussing politics with the late-night host.

"What I fight against is the cynicism-not saying you-but this notion that government doesn't get stuff done," the POTUS explained. "Every day, there is a bunch of stuff that is getting done and helps a lot of people."

Obama went on, saying: "The one thing I feel deeply and will when I leave is stuff gets better if we work at it and stay focused on where we're going. It doesn't immediately get all solved."

The President also added that the labor that he has put into his first term in office will bear fruits in time.

"It's going to be a process," he shared. "I can say government works better than when I came into office."

After about 16 years on the comedic late-night television show, Jon Stewart announced last February that he is stepping down from his hosting duties.

The announcement was later confirmed by Comedy Central via Twitter.

"Jon will remain at the helm of 'The Daily Show' until later this year," the Comedy Central statement reads. "He is a comic genius, generous with his time and talent, and will always be a part of the Comedy Central family."

Stewart started hosting "The Daily Show" back in 1999. The show is currently on its "Jon Voyage" tour, as a last bow for the host.

Part of the "Jon Voyage" is a continuous live streaming featuring 2,000 episodes back to back on Aug. 6, which will be Stewart's last day as a host of the late-night show.
