Lee Daniels and Daniel Strong is not yet done beefing up the "Empire" season 2 cast.
For the sophomore run of his hit musical drama, the co-creators continue to hire big names from both music and movie industry. The latest of which is "Fast and Furious 7" star Tyrese Gibson.
Lee Daniels confirmed Tyre Gibson as part of "Empire" season 2 cast via his Instagram account theoriginalbigdaddy with the caption:
"Yes! Stop asking!!! #tyrese is coming on #empireseason2 And NO, I am not leaving my show! I just wrapped my 1st episode ... I got #richardpryor to do! It was so much fun directing our wonderful cast ... I miss and love them ALL... Sorta sad cause I'm not with them now but I'll be back for the finale!! In the meantime we got some badass directors stepping in!!! #family #fox #empire #gottagettomakingmovies #iaintmadeamoviesincethebutler"
Gibson, who is also a rapper/singer, has been very vocal on his desire to join the "Empire" cast. However, some things got in the way when he almost made it it in the first season.
"I was supposed to be on season one of 'Empire,' and I was in and out of court fighting for a personal matter with my 7-year-old, so I wasn't able to do the show. That's the truth," Tyrese said in an interview with HuffPost Live in May. "Taraji and Lee Daniels were very, very disappointed - and I was too - that I couldn't do it."
He also reacted on fans query to have him as Taraji P. Henson's Cookie's love interest.
"When it comes to Taraji, because we did 'Baby Boy' together, people don't want to see her with any other man, and they don't want to see me with any other woman. It's almost like Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams from 'The Notebook,'" he said.
Right now, there Gibson is part of "Empire" season 2 cast but there is no report yet who/what he will portray. Aside from Gibson, other mega artists enlisted to become part of "Empire" season 2 cast are Chris Rock, Kelly Rowland, Alicia Keys, Lenny Kravitz, and Marissa Tomei.
