Gotham City will be filled with villains come second season - not just the iconic Batman bad guys revealed in recent "Gotham" season 2 spoilers.
With the rise of the rogues, who can Det. Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) turn to? Surely, he and Det. Donal Logue is not enough to pin down the bad guys. Well, a rescue is coming.
Exclusive "Gotham" season 2 spoiler revealed Michael Chiklis, known as The Thing in 2005 superhero film "Fantastic Four" and multi-awarded role as Vic Mackey in FX drama "The Shield" landed a recurring role in Fox superhero drama. He will play Captain Nathaniel Barnes.
The entertainment website wrote:
"Who's Barnes, exactly? Per Gotham's producers, he "lands on the GCPD like a tornado, ripping out the dead wood of Gotham's police force. He is a law and order zealot; unafraid of making enemies - on either side of the law. For Gordon (Ben McKenzie), Barnes is a hero and a mentor, someone with whom he can share the burden of heroism. Captain Barnes proves himself to be a strong ally to Gordon... but one day he will make an equally powerful enemy."
According to "Gotham" season 2 spoilers release shortly after first season's finale, Batman villains Mad Hatter and Mr. Freeze will be introduced in the show.
During the San Diego Comic-Con, executive producer Bruno Heller confirmed The Joker will also be part of the second season, as well as the Tigress.
David Mazouz, who plays the young Bruce Wayne, also said that villains in "Gotham" season 2 are worse than the Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) who now claims the king of underworld.
"The villains that we know in Batman are going to be the ones who take over Gotham. Penguin is at the threshold right now, but he's going to meet people who are ten times worse," Mazouz said.
"And because the threat of villains is going to be so immense, the heroes will really have to team up. So you'll see Bruce and Gordon team up a lot more. And because of that, Bruce will get out a lot more. Gordon is really going to start that mentorship we talked about. They're really going to start to become closer, and because of that Bruce will find himself more involved with the crime world."
"Gotham" season 2 release date is September 21.
