Thanks to David Benioff and D.B. Weiss' decision to bring George RR Martin's books to the small screen five years ago, "Game Of Thrones" has now become an integral part of pop culture.
Not only did it affect normal viewers, other shows have also started to use the hit HBO show as a reference. To get a better picture of its impact in fellow iconic shows, HBO recently uploaded the "Game Of Thrones" pop culture mashup.
In it, popular shows that also have already huge names in the TV industry dropped references to "Game Of Thrones" and its characters.
"The Simpsons", "Sesame Street" and "Saturday Night Live" created entire segments based on the popular show. Meanwhile, Barney from "How I Met Your Mother" and Dean from "Supernatural" shared their (rather contrasting) opinions about the deceased Joffrey.
Meanwhile, "Bunheads" and even President Barrack Obama also used Daenerys (as Khaleesi) as a reference.
Not only is "Game Of Thrones" important in pop culture, it has also been creeping into the hearts and minds of famous celebrities.
Aside from hanging out with the show's stars Kit Harington and Richard Madden, Ed Sheeran is a well-known fan as well. He once went crazy over Jon Snow's sword which was given to him by a radio show. He even planned to have Harington sign the Longclaw replica as soon as he came back to the UK.
"Superntural" star Jensen Ackles also expressed his late but obsessive fascination for the show. His curiosity reportedly led him to being a huge fan. He even turned his wife Danneel in to the show.
"Pitch Perfect" lead actress Anna Kendrick is also a known follower, even celebrating Joffrey's death on Twitter. "Heroes Reborn" star Zachary Levi admitted that the show has "more of an impact on my emotional well being than anything else in life."
