Finally! Gorillaz is confirmed to be working on a new album after Jamie Hewlett's launching of the 2015 2D versions of 2D, Murdoc, Noodle and Russel on Instagram.
creator Damon Albarn revealed to Australia's ABC News that the animated band will most likely start recording for their new album in September.
"I'm starting recording in September for a new Gorillaz record," Albarn revealed. "I've just been really, really busy so I haven't had a chance."
Apparently, Albarn is anxious to finally get the chance again to record new songs and be in the studio all the time.
"I'd love to just get back in to that routine of being at home and coming to the studio five days a week."
After his announcement, fans immediately speculated that Gorillaz would most likely be releasing their new album in 2016.
And while he'll be busy with the new Gorillaz album, Albarn also discussed details about his other band, Blur, announcing that fans should expect more from them in the coming months.
"I would imagine there's some kind of future, but at the moment there's no time for the future - only the present," he said in an interview with The Sydney Morning Herald. "Who knows? I'm reluctant to say anything [about Blur], because if I do, it just gets taken out of context and then I'm accused of being a wind-up."
After releasing a their eight studio album titled "The Magic Whip," Albarn shared that it was actually a spontaneous event for the group after being on break for quite some time.
"It was very easy because we did it over a period of five days in Hong Kong," Albarn said.
"And we didn't tell anyone, didn't have any sort of agenda really, we just jammed.
"So it was a very pleasurable and fluid session."
Now that Albarn is done with Blur's new album and currently touring in Australia, it's expected that he'll soon shift his attention to his animated band Gorillaz come September. If so the new album would most likely hit shelves in 2016.
