After earning "just $44.2 Million over a 5-day Holiday weekend" according to Movie Pilot, it's not clear if Paramount Pictures is still going to push through with the reported "Terminator Genisys" sequel.
Apparenlty though, the ending of Arnold Schwarzenegger's cyborg-themed film is leading fans to a sequel.
Well if you still haven't seen the film, this is the time to step away because this post contains possible spoilers.
Based on the movie's last few scenes the Earth could be in danger of the cyborgs again.
Despite having been able to save the world, Arnold Schwarzenegger and the rest of the team should not discount the fact that Genisys is still corrupted and exists with the blue energy merging with the red light.
While he did not specifically announce that there's going to be a sequel to "Terminator Genisys," director Aaron Taylor previously discussed the possibility of even a trilogy.
"It was always there as a kind of gateway - to further developments it's precisely a kind of, 'it's not over yet' moment. On the one hand, it's one of the things that points to there being further chapters. On the other hand, this is a kind of franchise where I don't think anybody really believes that you're going to end up neatly or happily. So, when our heroes drive off into the sunset and we think, well that went well. There's still going to be a nagging feeling that wait, it's not that easy."
Even Arnold Schwarzenegger has reportedly confirmed that he is going to return to the sequel, but it's not clear if he's also up for the third and final installment , The Arnold Fans exclusively reported.
"Yes, of course, next year," Schwarzenegger reportedly said when asked if he'll join "Terminator 6."
Screen Rant added that "Terminator Genisys" sequel is scheduled for May 19, 2017, while the final installment to the franchise is set on June 29, 2018.
