The Alana Bloom (Caroline Dhavernas) in the last few “Hannibal” season 3 episodes is totally different from the one audiences saw in the first two seasons.
From a mild-mannered woman, she grew into someone who is capable of doing anything, even the darkest things. In the last episode, which is basically the finale of the first half of the season, Alana played a big part in orchestrating the hit on Mason Verger (Joe Anderson).
She worked with the sadistic pedophile to be able to catch Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen). This, however, does not sit well with her former boyfriend and Hannibal's nemesis Will Graham (Hugh Dancy).
What can fans expect on the relationship between Will Graham and Alana Bloom in the next “Hannibal” season 3 episodes?
Are they still friends or will they forever be estranged to each other? According to series creator Bryan Fuller, Alana will continue to become tougher in the Red Dragon story arc.
“Once Alana made the devil's bargain with Mason, it felt fated that she would play a role in bringing Mason down,” Fuller said in an interview with TV Guide.
“In her mind, she always knew that she was going to stab him in the back one way or another. She put up with his ugliness inside and out for the purposes of capturing Hannibal, but she always intended to bring in the cavalry at the last moment.”
“We continue Alana's shift into a less naïve, more hardened spirit in the Red Dragon arc. We see who she's become three years later as a result of this pact and her relationship with Margot and this cabal against Mason. There's a lot of bargains that were struck between various characters that, even though we're picking up three years later, we still feel them resonating in the next arc of episodes.”
The next episode is called “The Great Red Dragon” which will introduce the new big bad to be played by Richard Armitage. Read the full “Hannibal” season 3 episode guide below:
