‘Marvel’s Jessica Jones’ Netflix Series ‘A Psychological Thriller’ Says TV Boss Jeph Loeb

| By

Anticipation is slowly building for "Marvel's Jessica Jones Netflix series but leaked photos can go so far. In a lengthy interview with Entertainment Tonight, Marvel TV boss Jeph Loeb talked about what to expect on the show and how it might crossover with "Daredevil."

"Daredevil" set the dark, gritty tone for the rest of Marvel's Netflix series. Seeing as how audiences embraced the Charlie Cox-starred show, it seems "Jessica Jones" will follow suit.

"This is more of a psychological thriller. This speaks to when you think about what happened to Jessica and what sort of destroyed her life and how she tried to put it together, and then have to confront the person who deconstructed her world, that's a very powerful, emotional place to start from," Loeb said.

As with its source material, "Marvel's Jessica Jones" Netflix series will see its titular character have "real problems with a number of things she abuses" which it won't tone down. Loeb also praised actors Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones) and David Tennant's (Jebediah Killgrave/Purple Man) performances.

Just as in "Daredevil," there will also be instances when fans will find themselves empathizing with the villain and being uncomfortable with the hero's actions.

"There's going to be moments where some of the things that she does is pretty questionable. And some of the things that, when you learn about Killgrave's characters and the way that David Tennant plays the character, it's really extraordinary."

In terms of crossover potential, the two shows have all the right ingredients.

"Without giving anything away, they're in the same area. In some cases, they're in the same neighborhood. One of the things that is important to us is, when you enter the police station, it's the same police station. When you do go to the hospital, you start to see the same people."

That last part is intriguing as Cinema Blend thinks Loeb could be referring to Rosario Dawson's Claire Temple.

"Marvel's Jessica Jones" Netflix series is expected to premiere later this year.
