Now that Marvel fans have witnessed Paul Rudd as the newest superhero Ant-Man in MCU, things are reportedly moving forward with "Guardians of the Galaxy 2."
While the intergalactic superheroes led by Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) will not be available in theaters until 2017, there are already reports about its possible plot.
In a recent interview with Digital Spy, Pratt shared his knowledge of the sequel and its possible plot.
"We've talked a little," Pratt answered when asked about his communication with James Gunn and his knowledge of "GOTG 2."
"I know some of the songs that are going to be on Awesome Mix Vol 2. What I will say is that [Gunn's] pitch and his ideas legitimately put tears in my eyes. It is so good, it's so good. I can not wait to get started on it and I can not wait for people to see what he's going to pull off with this second movie."
"It's so big and so good. From what I understand, Marvel [heard Gunn's pitch] and they said nothing. [It] was that perfect. There was no micromanaging of the idea. They just love it so much they didn't have any notes for it. It's going to be remarkable."
Almost immediately, the 36-year-old hunk's statement has sparked speculations as to what to expect in "Guardians of the Galaxy 2."
Could the sequel finally feature Star-Lord meeting his father? While it's not yet revealed, Pratt's statement claiming that director James Gunn's ideas have put tears in his eyes, makes the specutalion about Star-Lord's father possible.
Futhermore, Gunn admitted that "Guardians of the Galaxy 2" is indeed going to be an emotional superhero movie that its plot will focus on the characters rather than going to ba an all-adventure movie.
"I think it's a more emotional movie," Gunn told Screen Crush. "It's both a bigger movie and a smaller movie because we focus more intensely on some of the characters."
Gunn in a press conference added that the sequel will finally tell the story of the superheroes prior to becoming a team, making it more possible for Star-Lord's father to finally be introduced.
"There's just too many characters, so you can't concentrate on one and really get to know that character," he said. "I really want to get to know the characters that we know better, and yeah, we will be introducing a new character."
In addition Gunn told Alison Rosen Is Your New Best Friend podcast, which was translated to text by FilmDrunk, that the plot of "Guardians of the Galaxy 2" will most likely deviate from the story in the comics.
"It's not really based on anything. The story for 'Guardians 2' is an original story that I came up with that I started working on actually while I was shooting 'Guardians 1,' and it'll answer some of the questions that were put forth in the first movie about Peter Quill's father and who he is and what's going on with that, he said of the sequel's storyline.
"We'll get to know some of the characters a little bit more and then we're going to meet a couple of new characters who will be very important to 'Guardians' movies and probably important to the Marvel Universe as a whole."
Adding, "It's different than what's in the comic books. Peter Quill's father is somebody different in the comics. So then when the movie came out, we got green-lit on the sequel right away. I went in and I sat down with those guys and I'm like, 'Okay, here's what I think the sequel should be.' And they were like, 'Oh, whoa. That's risky, but okay.' Now I'm going to turn over the story in a few short weeks and we'll find out how well it works."
"Guardians of the Galaxy 2" release date is scheduled on May 5, 2017
