Apple's iPad glory days could be over soon as Samsung unveiled its sleek and thinnest tablet of its kind-the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 that comes in two size variants of 9.7inch and 8.0inch.
"The Galaxy Tab S2 is not only our thinnest and lightest tablet of its size ever, it also gives users quick, easy access to a wealth of superior viewing and productivity features," said JK Shin, CEO and President of IT & Mobile Division at Samsung. (via GSM Arena)
"We believe the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 is the most complete personal visual device designed for consumers to carry and use anywhere."
He also added that the tablets are just 5.6mm thick compared to Apple's iPad Air 2 has 6.1mm thick, while the iPad mini 3 measures in at 7.5mm. (via Business Insider)
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 8 inch and 9.7 inch weighs just 265g and 389g respectively and boasts a 2048 x 1536 pixel.
The smaller variant packs an octa-core processor (quad 1.9GHz + quad 1.3GHz), and pulls off an 8-inch Super AMOLED display with 1536 x 2048 pixels resolution. Its chipset is supported by a 3GB of RAM and has an onboard internal storage of 32GB or 64GB options expandable via external storage, while a 4000 mAh battery is baked in.
On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 9.7inch boasts a better screen resolution Super AMOLED display and a 5870mAh battery.
Both devices disappointingly run on Android 5.0 Lollipop-not Google's latest OS, and comes in Wi-Fi only or Wi-Fi and LTE configurations, with a touch-enabled Fingerprint Scanner, and offer Multitasking.
The Korean tech giant hasn't revealed the pricing yet, but in a report by SamMobile it will cost 399€ and 469€ for the WiFi and LTE 8" models respectively, with the 9.7" WiFi and LTE models being 499€ and 569€. (via Anandtech)
Samsung already confirmed that the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 will be available internationally by August.
