Baby Left with Pit Bull While Dad Goes Out Drinking

| By

A baby left with a pit bull by his father while he went out drinking and mother was at work, was luckily left unharmed, but the Florida father has been arrested for child neglect

The baby's mother-who didn't want to be identified-said she tried repeatedly to raise Irvine on his phone and when he finally answered, he told her he was out "watching the game" and hung up on her. The baby was found crying inside a room with the door shut and the pit bull was sitting outside of it, the report said.

James R Irvine, 41, was arrested on Saturday after his girlfriend came home from work to find him trying to enter their home and urinating on himself, according to the Daytona Beach News-Journal.

The baby left with the pit bull was a 10-month-old boy, who was unidentified, but reports say he was not harmed during the time he was spent alone with the pit bull.

When police interviewed the father, he initially lied and said he was at home, watching a game on the sofa. They then took him to the local bar, where they met an employee, who identified the man. Irvine was arrested and later released on $1,500 bail after a waitress at a local bar identified him and showed police his bar tab, which he'd failed to pay before leaving.
