Traditionally launched at IFA every September, the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 release date has been rumored for August. Now, another report has tipped when the upcoming Korean phablet will launch next month.
Citing insiders, SamMobile said "the Galaxy Note 5 will be announced on August 12, and go on sale around two weeks later on August 21."
Since the Samsung's Note lineup debuted in 2011, the Android-powered device has always launched at IFA at Berlin. But with looming competition in the form of rival Apple's new iPhones, the Seoul-based company has reportedly moved up the device's launch.
Whether it is coming in August or September, one sign points that the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 release date is indeed on the horizon. According to tech website G for Games, the upcoming Korean phablet has been certified by the FCC for two US carriers.
"AT&T's Note 5 has the model number SM-N920A and is compatible with AT&T's LTE bands (17, 4 and 2)."
The device is said to support the network's band 12, launching this September, as well.
"Verizon's Note 5 is identified by the model number SM-N920V and is compatible with Big Red's LTE bands (13, 4 and 2)."
As the website noted, a trip to the FCC "usually means that the manufacturers and carriers alike are gearing up for an imminent launch."
Among rumored Galaxy Note 5 specs include an Exynos 7422 processor and a 5.67-inch Super AMOLED 2K display. With a possible move to an all-glass back as shown in leaks and renders, some have speculated that the Note 4's successor may not come with a removable battery and a microSD card slot for expandable memory.
Franchise Herald also reported a voice or gesture-activated auto-eject feature for the S-Pen stylus.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 release date in August has yet to be confirmed by the South Korean tech giant. The Gear A smartwatch and Galaxy S6 edge+ are said to roll out along with the Note 5 as well.
