"Empire" season 2 is expected to be bigger than the first season. After a hit first season, the Fox musical drama is gearing up for a sophomore run by adding more and more big names in their cast.
"Empire" broke ratings record in the first season but it seems not to be a favorite among critics.
Nominees for the 2015 Primetime Emmy Awards were announced last week and "Empire" was not that lucky lead cast Taraji Henson was the only one who got a nomination (Best Actress in a Drama Series).
Many fans rued the lack of recognition from the 2015 Primetime Emmy Awards. "Empire" cast Taraji P. Henson, felt the same. However, she has different reason. She is thankful for the recognition but is sad at the same time because his co-star and on screen husband Terrence Howard was overlooked.
"Really? I didn't even know...I don't know what to say," said a stunned Henson in a report by the Los Angeles Times. "I can't do the show by myself. There are writers who are giving us these great story lines. It's just wrong. Terrence is my sparring partner. Cookie is nothing without Lucious. She is nothing without her family."
The "Empire" cast also talked about how she's not too hyped about awards and discussed what motivates her in doing her best in her TV and movie appearances.
"That's why I try not to put too much stock in awards," Henson said. "What you expect and want to happen will hurt your feelings when it doesn't happen. Then you have to carry that around with you. I don't do my work for awards. My work is about touching people in a positive way."
"The phone was buzzing so much that I had to put it under my pillow," she said. "Everybody was saying, 'You know you're going to get it. Are you ready? What are you going to wear?' and I was telling everybody to calm down, we don't know what's going to happen.
"My eyes are always on the bigger picture," she added. "My goal is changing the world through art. All my blood and sweat has gone into this. I'm glad it's finally on a level where it seems to be paying off."
"Empire" season 2 release date is September 23.
