Nick Burkhardt will be jumping into "Grimm" season 5 without a mother and a girlfriend.
Posters for the season have already hinted that the Portland detective will be seeking vengeance for their deaths when the new season rolls around this October. Will he stay as a revenge-seeking Grimm the entire time?
"I think Nick's out for revenge and he's trying to figure out who wronged him," David Giuntoli, who plays Nick, told Access Hollywood during the San Diego Comic Con last week.
However, all the negativity will have to be put aside for the baby boy he has to raise.
In order for Adalind (Claire Coffee) to strip Nick of his powers in season three, she made herself look like Juliette and slept with him. She succeeded in making him lose his Grimm powers but she also unknowingly got herself pregnant in the process.
Although he was shocked and somewhat horrified at the thought of raising a baby with his mortal enemy, Nick eventually warmed up to the idea of being a father - even if he has to co-parent with the Hexenbiest who tried to kill him before.
"He lost his girlfriend, he lost his mom ... and the baby is kind of the reason for him to keep going," TV Line quoted the lead star as saying about his situation with Adalind.
But will this "bizarre" co-parenting set-up eventually lead to something more in "Grimm" season 5?
According to Showbiz Junkies' interview with Coffee, there's still no set future romance for Adalind and Nick or anyone else.
"No romantic exploits have ended anything other than horribly for her so far. So if there were any, hopefully they would be slow going," she revealed. She also doesn't know if Nick's former tormentor would eventually become part of the group, seeing as the "Scooby Gang is a little thick at this point."
Her main tie to the group will reportedly be the baby, which she has to raise together with Nick. With no powers to back her up, she now has to live a relatively normal life.
"She's now having this other child with Nick and sticking around Portland, she's really finally is like, 'Wait, this is all I've got in the world and now I really have to make it work. I have no dungeons to distract me, no Royal family to be aligning myself with,'" the actress added.
"Grimm" season 5 will return to NBC on Oct. 30.
