If Bitsie Tulloch's glaring absence from the Comic Con panel isn't confirmation enough that her character won't be able to live through to "Grimm" season 5, producers David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf said as much to the crowd that day (reportedly after showing a clip of her funeral for the new season).
"Nick has lost his mom, his girlfriend, and ... something else in the first episode," David Giuntoli, who plays lead character Nick Burkhardt, shared.
Greenwalt also revealed that Nick will go through an emotional arc in the new season. According to Zap2It This arc will reportedly bring Juliette back to the show - but only through memories and flashbacks!
Aside from mourning the deaths, Nick will also have to deal with his need for vengeance as well as adjust to the fact that he will be a father soon.
In the beginning of the series, he had been preparing to propose to Juliette but had to put it off because of several complications. In "Grimm" season 5, he would have no girlfriend to propose to but he would have a son to care for. Would the baby be enough to divert his attention from murderous revenge-seeker to doting father?
TV Line quoted the TV star as saying that the baby would be "kind of the reason for him to keep going" after everything that happened to him in season four.
The cast told TV Line that there will be a "no-BS kind of reboot". Silas Weir Mitchell also assured fans that the new season will mix "old school mythology stuff" like the mystery of the keys and new elements such as Agent Chavez and a possible Wesen unit in the FBI.
The other characters in the series will reported also go through some emotional changes this season: Adalind will have to find a job with all her powers gone, Monroe and Rosalee might just get a blessing (and problem) of their own, and Hank will reportedly meet his "true love".
"Grimm" season 5 will return to NBC on Oct.30.
