After launching "GOW 3" remastered version in E3 2015, Microsoft Studios has confirmed the beta release date of "Gears of War 4."
And while it's confirmed, Games Radar reported that the beta version expected to be released on Spring of 2016, will be rather limited to the buyers of the Gears of War: Ultimate Editions Xbox One console bundle only.
However, fans are expected to finally enjoy the full version of the game soon, Xbox head Phil Spencer revealed that new GM Rod Ferguson, who's spearheading the development is giving "Gears of War 4" "massive progress."
"The thing that was great about the early Gears of War games, to me, [was] just the epic scale of the settings that I was in," Spencer told Game Spot. "The story, the setting was a lot more what I would call soulful and maybe even a little dark. And [Rod Fergusson] and I have talked about this; I think the game over time became almost more of a parody of itself; not for any kind of horrible reasons. It's hard to continue to manage the IP."
And while many speculated that "Gears of War 4" would be a reboot, Spencer clarified that it's not instead it's a sequel.
"I wouldn't call it a reboot, because I don't think the franchise necessarily needs that," he explained.
Adding, "I think we can make sure that we're investing in this thing for the next decade, which is how I want to think about it. The thing that was great about the early Gears of War games, to me, [was] just the epic scale of the settings that I was in. I think the story and the setting and what they're going through in a Gears of War-the name of the game, it really meant something to what that game was about. We've got to get back to that. The feeling of those individuals."
In line with its release date, Black Tusk Studios developer Jack Felling revealed that "Gears of War 4" is not going to be available for Xbox 360 consoles and only to new generation Xbox One.
"No, sorry, it won't be available on the 360, but it will be available for the Xbox One," he answered a fan on Twitter.
