‘Supernatural’ Star Jared Padalecki Gets Emotional Over Fans’ Support For His Depression; Jensen Ackles Calls Fans ‘Extended Family’

Fans of "Supernatural" star Jared Padalecki are well aware of his years-long battle with depression. Although he's been blessed with a wonderful family, supportive friends and successful TV shows, the father-of-two still suffers from occasional bouts of despair.

Earlier this year, fans became worried for the actor when he begged off from attending several of the show's conventions because of exhaustion.

"Dear ‪#JIBCON and ‪#AHBL6. I am in desperate and urgent need of my family. I am so sorry to tell you this but I must head home," he tweeted previously, prompting speculations of the 32-year-old leaving the long-running CW show.

CNN reported that he asked fans to send him messages of love and support in May following the cancelled appearances.

Thankfully, he seemed to have bounced right back up when he showed up for a "Gilmore Girls" reunion in June, where he met up with former cast mates Alexis Bledel, Milo Ventimiglia, Scott Patterson and Lauren Graham. He later started filming for the CW show's 11th season in Vancouver before joining the "Supernatural" panel at Comic Con last week.

In a touching moment at the convention, fans showed their support for the actor's battle with clinical depression and the campaign he started last March to help out people who are facing the same condition.

According to Variety, the audience at Hall H held up tea lights with the words "Always Keep Fighting" which was also the name of Padalecki's campaign.

The "Supernatural" fans' tribute got Jared Padalecki emotional and excited.

"This is so touching and humbling and honoring ... I don't have the proper words to say thank you, or how humbled and honored and excited I am," he reportedly told the crowd. "Keep it up guys, thank y'all so much."

He later tweeted a photo of himself with the audience's light vigil in the background.

"We really are a family here that enjoys being here with our extended family," co-star Jensen Ackles told the crowd. "You guys are awesome, thanks for continuing to watch and support and inspire us to do what we do."

"Supernatural" star Jared Padalecki also told fans that the show wouldn't have existed without their support.
