After Disney's confirmation that one of the upcoming "Star Wars 7" spin off movies is going to feature young Han Solo, rumors and speculations as to who will play the coveted role became rampant.
Apparenlty there are a number of young actors being linked to the role. And while Lucasfilm nor Disney has yet to announce an actor set to replace Harrison Ford as Han Solo, many of "Star Wars" fans are reportedly rooting for "Breaking Bad" star Aaron Paul to take on the role.
The Guardian reported that the 35-year-old actor is the bookies' favorite.
But while fans are clamoring to see Paul to become the new Han Solo, the publication noted that the upcoming "Star Wars 7" spin off movie will most likely feature Solo in his 20s, thus a younger actor is reportedly more fitting for the role, naming 25-year-old "Kingsman" actor, Taron Egerton, 21-year-old "Divergent" star Ansel Elgort and the 25-year-old hunk Nicholas Hoult from "X-Men: First Class" as better choices.
According to Star Wars, the spin off will tell the story young Han Solo as to how he "became the smuggler, thief, and scoundrel whom Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi first encountered in the cantina at Mos Eisley."
The Hollywood Reported added that "The Lego Movie" directors Christopher Miller and Phil Lord will be helming the upcoming "Star Wars 7" spin off, while Lawrence and Jon Kasdan are tasked to pen the script.
The Kasdan brothers have already expressed their enthusiasm with Miller and Lord saying, "We're so excited to be working with Chris and Phil, who will bring a fresh new dimension to the Star Wars universe," said the Kasdans. "They're two of the smartest, funniest and most original filmmakers around, and the ideal choice to tell the story of Han Solo, one of the coolest characters in the galaxy."
Lucasfilm CEO Kathleen Kennedy, on the other hand, is confident that the team of writers and directors will provide a well deserved Han Solo spin-off movie who will "bring their wit, style, enery and heart" to the project.
"It's not just any filmmaker who can tell the story of such a beloved icon like Han Solo, and I'm excited to say we've found the perfect team to handle the task. Larry and Jon know all there is to know about the character, and Chris and Phil will bring their wit, style, energy and heart to tell Han's story."
"Star Wars 7" spin off movie is set to hit theaters on May 25, 2018.
