The actress who gave life to the live-action version of Maleficent, Angelina Jolie is not coming back for the upcoming sequel according to some reports.
A report by Venture Capital Post said that "Maleficent's" Angelina Jolie has received no formal invitations about her participation yet, and her husband Brad Pitt also attested that his wife has not received any offer yet from Disney.
The report further said that the actress admitted she loved playing her role in the movie "Maleficent." But Angelina Jolie reportedly could not imagine and still has no knowledge if she will reprise the role once more.
Venture Capital Post also said that Maleficent actress Angelina Jolie's growing interest in directing and producing films suggests that "she may have no plans of returning to the big screen as Maleficent" because "she believes she is better off in the director's seat than in front of the camera."
Crossmap also added details on possibly seeing the sequel of "Maleficent" without Angelina Jolie. The website said she is not the type to star in sequels citing examples when the actress turned down offers to do sequel films to her past movies such as "Salt" and "Wanted."
"I've never been comfortable as an actor; I've never loved being in front of the camera," she said. "I see myself moving into directing more and doing much less as an actor. I have a few more in me, ones I have been developing for some time, so I will do those before I step away."
The first movie "Maleficent," which saw Angelina Jolie in her villainous role, earned a domestic gross of around $241 million according to website Box Office Mojo. These earnings were from a production budget of $180 million.
Disney is reportedly developing the sequel movie with Linda Woolverton on board as the scriptwriter. The first movie told the origin story of Maleficent as a good fairy turned evil to avenge of her prince lover's thirst for power.
