The revelation happened during a Q&A panel at MetroCon in Florida, Game Rant reported.

Slash Film reported that game creator Neil Druckmann is determined bring "big changes" in the movie but will maintain "faithful" to that of the game.

Furthermore, he admitted that while he's currently pre-occupied with "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End," it doesn't mean that he's not looking forward into working with "The Last of Us" movie adaptation.

"When I'm in the office it's all Uncharted 4 all the time," he said. "When I should be sleeping, it's the [Last of Us] movie."

Druckmann on the other hand, refused to shed light on casting news although he hinted that there are already actors in negotiation to play the role of Joel and Ellie.

"I just finished the second draft and we did a table read with a bunch of actors and that's where we're at."

Meanwhile, Digital Spy claimed that "Game of Thrones" star Maisie Williams is coveted to portray the role of Ellie, while a number of stars including Dylan McDermott, Hugh Jackman and Gerard Butler are all fitting to play the role of Joel.

"It was announced sort of prematurely almost in that I would love to play Ellie, they would love me to play Ellie," she said. "There's no film happening at this very second, so I cannot play Ellie right at this very minute. But when that comes around - if and when that comes around - I'll be here."

While she did not confirm her involvement yet, "Game of Thrones" star Maisie Williams admitted that she has indeed went on meetings with Neil Druckmann and other movie executives.

"I had a lunch a little while ago and we spoke about the possibility of me playing Ellie and that's really exciting and I would absolutely love to," Williams confirmed in a report by Screen Rant. "They announced at Comic-Con that we had spoken about it, and since then in like every interview people have been asking me about it."

"Honestly I would love to and I think they would love me to play Ellie also, and that's where it is at the moment. There's no script, no director, it's still very early days for the whole project, but if it all goes ahead soon enough I think, yeah, I would love to."
