‘Too Early’ To Talk Project Morpheus Price Says Sony’s Shuhei Yoshida; More Titles To Be Revealed At Tokyo Game Show 2015!

| By

With a release date slated sometime in the first half of 2016, it's apparently "too early" too early to talk about Project Morpheus price. Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida revealed as much during an interview.

"We are talking about launching next year so typically, we don't talk about pricing one year ahead of time," Yoshida told GameIndustry.biz adding, "I think we announced the price of PS4 at E3 the year of the launch so that's five months before the launch."

Other VR headsets such as OculusVR's Rift haven't revealed its pricing yet. Could Sony be waiting for its rivals to reveal their cards before they do?

"It's not like we are waiting for Oculus to announce their price. We still have work to do to know exactly the cost of goods and so on," he said.

Last month, Franchise Herald reported that Sony hasn't decided Project Morpheus price, release date and other details. Yoshida did say that things are "going very, very well."

Yoshida also confirmed that more development kits of the PS4 VR headset are now in developers' hands.

"Yes, that's how you see 20 games at E3. Actually, we had to turn down some of the submissions for E3 so more than 20 submissions were already there. And more devs are working on games for TGS."

As a result, we'll get to see more Morpheus titles at the Tokyo Game Show 2015 in September.

"SCE's specific plans for TGS are yet to be revealed, although the company traditionally hosts another press conference either before or during the show," VR Focus said.

Japanese game developers' works are expected to be showcased at the event given its location. According to the website, it was at last year's TGS that the Morpheus tech demo "Summer Lesson," created by "Tekken" director Katsuhiro Harada, was announced.

Scheduled for a release date sometime in the first half of 2016, Project Morpheus price and other details have yet to be confirmed by Sony.
