Blackberry Finally Adopts Google’s OS? Alleged Blackberry Venice And Dallas Rumored To Be An AT&T Exclusive

| By

After Blackberry's struggling attempt to get back on the mobile market, new reports claim that the Canadian tech giant is finally giving in to Google's Android OS.

Blackberry's CEO John Chen kept mum on this possibility of adopting the Android OS, "so long as it can be made secure enough by the company's standards," Reuters reported.

'We don't comment on rumors and speculation, but we remain committed to the BlackBerry 10 operating system, which provides security and productivity benefits that are unmatched,' said the company in an email sent by
Daily Mail.

Blackberry has been reportedly purchased two Android related domains "AndroidSecured.com" and "AndroidSecured.net." Currently the "AndroidSecured.com" redirects visitors of the page to Blackberry's BES12 and Android's collaboration.

Though this information fuels a switch to Android OS, Blackberry clarified this issue to Reuters via email.

"BlackBerry frequently registers domain names to support the breadth of our cross-platform portfolio," Blackberry wrote in an emailed statement to Reuters. (via ZDNet)

"Android is an important part of our cross-platform enterprise software strategy."

The BES12 allows corporate and government clients to not only manage BlackBerry devices on their internal networks, but also devices powered by Android, Apple's iOS platform and Microsoft Corp's Windows operating system. (via

Amidst these rumors, two alleged Blackberry phones have also emerged recently. Thanks to gadget leaker Evan Blass who posted a press render of the Blackberry Venice.

If the leaked details are to believed, the Blackberry Venice would definitely a game changer in the Android market as it sports Blackberry's trademark the physical keyboard we've missed.

It made its first appearance at the MWC 2015, but little details have been disclosed on the said event.

Meanwhile some reports claim that the Blackberry Venice and Blackberry Dallas are said to be in the testing phase in India and will be an AT&T exclusive when it goes official in the US. (via IB Times)
