"Crimson Peak" star Tom Hiddleston looks sinister in the trailers and new posters for Guillermo Del Toro's latest horror film. Will he be Mia Wasikowska's tormentor in the movie?
Past reports have called the upcoming gothic horror film a haunted house story since it centers around the "human-like" Allerdale Hall.
Thomas (Hiddleston) and Lucille Sharp's (Jessica Chastain) ancestral home was reportedly built without any CGI or green screen effect to give it a more authentic feel. However, helmer Guillermo Del Toro recently insisted that his latest offering is not a "haunted house" film.
"The house is a rotting representation of the family that has inhabited it - it's like a cage, a killing jar that you use to kill butterflies. The house basically is a sinister, sinister trap," he insisted to Entertainment Weekly.
If the house is the trap, then will "Crimson Peak" have Tom Hiddleston and Jessica Chastain as the villains who will torment Mia Wasikowski as soon as she arrives at the mansion?
Edith (Wasikowska) will be subjected to all kinds of horrors when she moves into the house after marrying Thomas.
"[Usually] the marriage is sort of the climax or the high point of a story," the director continued. "I tried on 'Crimson' to say that the horror starts after the marriage."
Describing Edith's fear and torment in the film, he added, "This girl wakes up in a strange place, not her own home, not her own bed, and she little by little realizes that she knows less about the man she married than one would expect."
However, there seems to be hope still within the movie's darkness.
"The curious thing is," Del Toro teased, "the love story really starts when they acknowledge that darkness."
How excited are you to see "Crimson Peak" with Tom Hiddleston, Jessica Chastain, Mia Wasikowska and Charlie Hunnam on Oct. 16?
