The actress now spends a lot of time in Paris where she and her choreographer husband Benjamin Millepied along with their four-year-old son, Harper's Bazaar said.
"It's magical," Natalie Portman told the magazine. "But the cultures are different in ways you don't even realize. And there's stuff you don't know you'll miss until you're away."
She was referring to indoor gyms where children can move around which she said are not present in Paris unlike back in her home country.
"This French friend of ours just told me that being in Los Angeles, he missed having serious conversations at dinner," she added.
Natalie Portman's magazine cover story also shared how the actress asked Cate Blanchett on being a parent.
"I said to Cate Blanchett, 'How do you do it?' She said, 'You Just do.'" the actress mentioned.
The actress reportedly pursued her directorial debut in a film called "A Tale of Love and Darkness," which tells the story of the formation of her country Israel after World War II through the eyes of one person.
