The latest rumors suggest the expected Samsung Gear A smartwatch release date has been moved up a month earlier.
Samsung's upcoming round smartwatch, also known as Orbis, has long been expected to be launched alongside the Galaxy Note 5. Both devices were a no-show at this year's Mobile World Congress in March leading many to believe that they will be unveiled together at September's IFA 2015.
But tech blog Übergizmo picked up on a report last month that said the Gear A smartwatch and the Galaxy Note 5 could be launched in mid-August.
"The report from Taiwan goes on to claim that Samsung has entered into talks with Taiwanese carriers about a possible launch in August, and assuming this is true, that should apply to other markets around the world as well."
An accelerated Samsung Gear A smartwatch release date is also something that Tizen Experts thinks is possible. The website cited another report by The Wall Street Journal on the matter.
Reportedly, "a person familiar with the matter" said the Seoul-based tech giant is planning to move up the launch of the Note 5 to allow more "breathing room" before rival Apple unveils its new iPhone.
"With the launch of the Galaxy Note 5 we were expecting the launch of the next Gear smartwatch, so it could make sense for us to see both unveiled together at the new event, which according to the insider is being planned for a major U.S. city that hasn't yet been decided," Tizen Experts said.
The upcoming Gear A smartwatch should slot in between Cupertino's premium Apple Watch and the lower-priced Xiaomi Mi Band, according to Android Headlines. It is also expected to compete with other Android Wear devices.
Last month, we reported that the Samsung Gear A smartwatch release date was delayed to allow the market to "settle down" after the Apple Watch's launch. Renders have shown its possible design and it's been rumored that it will come in two variants and an Exynos processor.
