Will Radiohead finally release their new album soon?
While the English rockband has yet to provide official details as to when the it plans to launch their new record, a report from Paste Magazine revealing that Radiohead has pulled out their songs from music streaming apps including Spotify, Rdio and Deezer and to allow Apple Music to exclusively release their songs makes way for speculations that a new album is nearing fruition.
Nigel Godrich, the band's producer and collaborator explained the reason behind the decision.
"The reason is that new artists get paid fuck all with this model. It's an equation that just doesn't work," Godrich said. "The music industry is being taken over by the back door and if we don't try and make it fair for new music producers and artists then the art will suffer."
Futhermore, Consequence of Sound is confident that the highly anticipated new album of Radiohead would most likely hit shelves this year.
Apparently guitarist Jonny Greenwood and vocalits Thom Yorke are already working on the recordings, Greenwood revelealed in a previous interview with Dutch music website called, 3voor12.
While they are now actively gearing up, Greenwood revealed that it was not easy for them to work on this new album as the band members have merely been together for a long time, thus it took "a lot of time" for them to rekindle their rapport.
"This afternoon, Thom and I will work on a song we started yesterday, and see what it will lead to," he explained.
On the same interview, Greenwood seemed to have given fans a hint on what song to expect on their new Radiohead album. Apparently they are now working on the song titled "Lift," which dates back to 1996
"What people don't know is that there's a very old song on each album, like 'Nude' on In Rainbows. We never found the right arrangement for that, until then. 'Lift' is just like that. When the idea is right, it stays right. It doesn't really matter in which form."
And while their new album will most likely feature an old single, Jonny Greenwood previously told Christian Post that they are constantly woking on new methods for their follow up album.
"We've certainly changed our method again," Greenwood said. "It's too involved. We're kind of limiting ourselves; working on limits. So we'll see what happens. It's like we're trying to use very old and very new technology to see what happens."
