Floyd Mayweather Jr. may have been stripped off of his welterweight title he won against Manny Pacquiao two months ago but he is still the most sought opponent in the sport of boxing.
So who will be on the other side on Floyd Mayweather Jr's next fight? None yet but almost every pro in the world is coming after him. One of those is Keith Thurman who is currently the WBA Regular champion in the Welterweight division.
Talking to ESPN, Thurman made it known how much he desires to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. He is aware he is not yet on the undefeated American fighter's radar but he insists anything is possible.
"Considering my heart and my desire to fight Floyd Mayweather, to me it is possible," Thurman told ESPN.com. "I do have this fight [Saturday], and anything can happen in this fight. Hopefully everything goes well; we have a terrific knockout performance like we want to have; and we walk out with no injuries."
Thurman, who is set to clash with former titlist Luis Collazo on Saturday at the USF Sun Dome in Tampa, also acknowledges that Floyd Mayweather Jr is deciding on his next fight as a businessman.
"Some would say the fact that he can fight practically anybody and make the money that he's making that he should just take another paycheck," Thurman said. "Boxing is a sport, but it's also a business. Floyd is an intelligent businessman. Maybe he does want to make the fight brew or let the controversy build up longer and a little bit more.
"We'll see what happens. A lot of people do not expect Floyd to be here for the next two to three years, so the decisions that he makes now are important, and he should make wise decisions."
Right now, Keith Thurman will remain invisible to Floyd Mayweather Jr as the latter is still busy with his case with WBO following the removal of his welterweight title belt. His camp said they will appeal the case.
