The New Oreo Cookies Are Now Thinner, Are They Also A Perfect Match For Champagne? Neil Patrick Harris Believes So

| By

Ladies, do not be envious because the new Oreo cookies are now thinner and sexier than their usual appearance. You've got to get that diet right and intensify your workout as these new cookies are set to attract countless of Oreo lovers.

Comedian Neil Patrick Harris was among the first to try the new Oreo cookies before its release next week, and he matched them up with glasses of champagne.

He posted on Instagram, "Thank you @oreo for sending me new Oreo Thins and sponsoring this evening's treat."

Mondelez International Inc, the company behind the new Oreo cookies, reportedly said it will add "Oreo Thins" to its lineup in the US beginning next week.

The new Oreo cookies have the same flavor and cookie-to-filling ratio as the original Oreos except that they are thinner than usual. According to the report, this new addition to the Oreo family is a snack made for "sophistication" and that they not meant to be twisted or dunked.

Fortunately though, these cookies are perfect for consumers who are conscious of their daily calorie count. Four of these new Oreo cookies reportedly contain 140 calories, less than the 160 calories for three original and regular Oreos.

Oreo senior director for North America Janda Lukin told Gulf News that regular Oreos are like pancakes, while Oreo Thins are like crepes.

While these new Oreo cookies can be consumed to control daily calorie count, these cookies are not meant to be a diet snack, the report added.

Already tried by China

Gulf News further noted that though the original Oreos originated in the US back in 1912, the new Oreo cookies called "Thins" were first rolled out in China last year "to address the company's tumbling cookie sales in the country."

Because more people bought these cookies as a cheaper alternative, Mondelez CEO Irene Rosenfeld said in the report that this has been a success in the East Asian nation and that the company would distribute them worldwide.

The report noted that the North American business operations of the company declined in the first three months of 2015.

Starting July 13, the new Oreo cookies will be available and will cost the same as regular Oreos.
