'True Detective' Season 2 Cast Taylor Kitsch Says Next Episodes Will Be Big For His Character Paul

| By

The last "True Detective" season 2 episode has a faster pace compared to the first two. Colin Farrell's Det.

Raymond Velcoro turned out to be alive after getting shot multiple times at gun point in the second episode. He went back to work and he and Det. Ani Bezzerides (Rachel McAdams) stepped up their effort in tracking the killer behind the death of the city mayor.

The police force tracking the killer is supposed to be a triumvirate. However, in the last "True Detective" season 2 episode, one police officer was missing.

Taylor Kitsch's Paul Woodrugh, an officer from California Highway Patrol, was MIA as he was busy dealing with personal problems. His plight will continue. The better part of it though for fans is they will get to know why or how Paul is acting that way.

Talking to the Hollywood Reporter shortly after "True Detective" season 2 episode 3, Kitsch said the next two weeks will be big for his character.

"Selfishly speaking, I think it's more just Paul. He's unraveling" the actor said when asked about the next two episodes of "True Detective."

"There are a couple scenes where you see him crack and not be able to hold on like he could before. Those are the scenes that just jumped out at me [to show] why he does what he does and acts how he acts.... [You'll see] where he's come from and how suppressed he's been in that house and that relationship with his mother kind of unfolds. Then with the case, it's a slow burn. With Paul, he has bigger beats with his home life and just the repercussions of acting on something within himself. The [weight] he puts on himself is enormous, the strain."

"True Detective" season 2 episode 4 and 5 are titled "Down Will Come" and "Other Lives", respectively. Read episode guide for the second season by clicking here.
