The Android One was an initiative to push affordable Android devices in developing countries. The first Android One phones were launched in India followed by Bangladesh, Indonesia, Myanmar, Turkey, the Philippines and now made its way to Pakistan.
Android Police reports that the Android One expansion to Pakistan was announced on Google's Asia-Pacific blog with the QMobile A1.
Just like the other Android One devices that were first launched, the QMobile A1 is preloaded with entry level specs and features. It sports with 4.5-inch FWVGA (480x854 pixels) display and measures 132x67.9x9.15mm. Under the hood, comes a 1.3GHz quad-core processor supported by a 1GB of RAM. It also has an 8GB of built-in storage which is expandable via microSD card of up to 32GB. Camera-wise it pulls off a 5MP main camera and a 2MP front snapper. (via Android Authority)
The QMobile will be backed by a 1700mAh battery.
Though there are more competitive phones in the market than the QMobile A1, the Android One device has an edge on its software side as it runs on the latest Android 5.1.1 Lollipop fresh out of the box.
"Like all Android One phones, the QMobile A1 combines high-quality hardware that's been tested by Google with the latest version of Android (Lollipop 5.1.1) and all of the features that come with it. Android One phones will also automatically receive updates to the latest version of Android soon after they are released," Caesar Sengupta, VP, Product Management at Google, said on a blog post referring to the Android One Qmobile A1. Google also promises to bring the latest Android OS update to Android One devices as soon it is available and most likely will receive the Android M OS earlier than entry level phones.
