'Hannibal' Season 3 Episode Guide: Can Bedelia Out-Manipulate Lecter? Gillian Anderson Says Her Character Has A Plan

| By

The last "Hannibal" season 3 episode saw Dr. Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) getting tracked and badly wounded by Agent Jack Crawford (Laurence Fishburne).

The cannibal is in Italy and has killed a number of prominent people already. The list includes Rinaldo Pazzi who Crawford works with. Hannibal Lecter is hurt. What will be the next step for him? Will Gillian Anderson's Dr. Bedelia du Maurier come for his rescue?

Anderson made it known even before the "Hannibal" season 3 premiere episode that Bedelia is not working for Lecter. Hannibal has a leverage on her but Bedelia has different agenda, too.

Now, the question is, does the female doctor have enough power to outdo the monster in Hannibal? According to Anderson herself, Bedelia can do it.

"I think that she feels her own degree of power, but... it's a power between the two of them, and I think sometimes she's less powerful than other times," Anderson said in an interview with Variety just few hours after the latest "Hannibal" season 3 episode.

"I think that she probably feels that she can out-manipulate him. I think she feels that she has done it before and she can do it again."

When asked if Bedelia has concrete plan in taking down Hannibal Lecter, here's what Anderson said:

"That said, she's in a very tricky situation. I think she is intrigued, and curious, and fearful, and I think she's bitten off more than she can potentially chew, but I think that she has some kind of a plan, and as the season unravels, we'll get to see what kind of a plan that might be, or whether she does actually have a specific plan or whether she's just rolling with the punches."

The next episode is called "Dulce". Read the full "Hannibal" season 3 episode guide here.
