'Under The Dome' Season 3 Spoiler News: Dean Norris Does Not Want Jim To Become A Killer, Says His Character Will Have More Fun This Year

| By

Big Jim (Dean Norris) played as the antagonist in the first two seasons of "Under the Dome."

His burning desire to protect Chester's Mill and be its savior has made him do cruel things and put him at odds with his son Junior (Alexander Koch).

He also killed people to keep the town alive. Big Jim killed someone in "Under the Dome" season 3 premiere that ran for two hours. However, he did not do it for himself.

"Under the Dome" season 3 premiere saw residents of Chester Mill living in a better condition. It seemed they have gotten out of the indestructible dome already.

Turned out, it is all just a dream and they were just trapped in a cocoon by the mysterious done. Thanks to Big Jim and Julia (Rachelle Lefevre) who everyone though died, all residents were freed from the make-believe life. Jim made it possible by killing Melanie who is controlling the power of the cocoons.

Big Jim feels like he has some kind of switch to turn himself into a good guy into a bad one, or vice versa. For Dean Norris, he'd rather see his character remain hated by other main characters but not to the point he will become a psycho killer.

"I didn't want him to turn too much into a psycho killer because how far can you go with that?", Norris said in a story published by News.com.au.

"What's interesting is that Big Jim might not be the guy you want as your neighbour, but when it comes to battling the dome maybe he is the guy that you want. He sees through the BS that the town buys into and he does it in a smart ass way. It's a lot more fun this year with Big Jim."

Will Melanie in the "Under the Dome" season 3 premiere be his last kill? The show based on Stephen King's novel of the same name is notorious for unprecedented deaths ala-"Game of Thrones" so there might have another death looming. As for Big Jim, it is also hard to say he will kill another person inside the doom as he has been unpredictable since the first season.

Big Jim is unpredictable but he is the kind of person Chester's Mill needs. Shortly after the "Under the Dome" season 3 premiere, Norris said his character is the most sane person in the middle of the catastrophe his town is experiencing.

"This season, he may seem like the sanest guy there. There's this kind of force that comes over the town, and they're trying to con the town into thinking one thing but Big Jim's the guy. With his narcissism and craziness, he's able to see through that BS and he's the guy you want doing that. It's going to be a fun season with him," Norris said as per a report by Irish Examiner.
