'Vikings' Season 4 Release, Spoiler News, And More: Clive Standen Talks About His Rollo's New Struggles Involving A French Princess

| By

Rollo Lothbrok had a rather difficult journey in the third season.

First he had to earn back the trust of other Norsemen after betraying them and secondly, he had to endure the loss of her love Siggy. When "Vikings" season 4 release date hits, Clive Standen's character will be on another heavy ordeal. Not only for himself but also for the future of northerners.

In last season's finale, Rollo was asked by Emperor Charles of Paris to marry his daughter Princess Gisla. The two first met on a battle and they instantly had connections. However, Gisla is still reluctant for many reasons. For Rollo, accepting the marriage is easy but winning the heart of the princess will be hard.

"That's going to be part of the uphill struggle that Rollo has essentially because the French Princess Gisla (Morgane Polanski) is not actually a big fan of the Vikings, let alone Rollo," Standen said of his character's journey in "Vikings" season 4" in an interview with French news site TFI.

"So he has a mountain to climb and he's going to have to win her to his side," Standen teased, adding that "there's going to be some fireworks ahead" for the disparate characters."

Standen was also spotted with new hair-do which made some fans ask whether it is part of the show. It is part of the show according to the actor.

"The reason I haven't got long hair now is a big, big plot spoiler for season 4," Standen explained.

There is no "Vikings" season 3 release date yet and Clive Standen did not care to share anything about it. The good news is, the History Channel original TV series will be twice longer than its previous seasons.

"We're in the middle of season 4 filming, we're on episode 5 and we're doing 20 episodes this year. So we're in it for the long haul for season 4."

Aside from Standen, other characters still alive for the new season, at least until "Vikings" season 4 release date, are Ragnar (Travis Fimmel), Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick), Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig, and Floki (Gustaf Skarsgård). The third season saw the demise of main characters like Siggy (Jessalyn Gilsig) and Althestan (George Blagden).
