'Empire' Season 2 Spoiler News: Oscar Winner Joins Fox Musical Drama As Lesbian Billionaire That Will Mess Things Up In Lyon's Den

| By

"Empire" drama is getting bigger and bigger with more and more high profile people about to get involved in the mess that the Lyon family is in.

Deadline's exclusive "Empire" season 2 spoiler revealed a new influential character is about to enter the lives of Lyon family members who last season's episode were divided by before the imprisonment of their father Lucius (Terrence Howard) and Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) getting denied of rights to the Empire company.

Deadline wrote in its exclusive "Empire" season 2 spoiler:

"Fox smash Empire is adding to the list of high-profile guest star/recurring players for Season 2. Marisa Tomei, whose Oscar-winning role as Mona Lisa Vito in My Cousin Viinny can rival Taraji P. Henson's Cookie in the sass department, has signed on for a multi-episode arc on the hip-hop series. She will play Mimi Whiteman, a demanding venture capitalist who becomes involved in Lyon family drama. A Forbes list billionairess, Mimi is a lover of hip hop music, social trends, high-end fashion and beautiful women."

"Empire" season 2 will be one of rare TV jobs for Marisa Tomei. The 50-year old actress don't appear much on television except for her gigs on live comedy shows like "Saturday Night Live" and "Comedy Bang! Bang!"

In films, she is credited for her works in "What Women Want", "Anger Management", and "Wild Hogs."

Tomei's character is not the only who will stir things up in Lyon's den. In earlier "Empire" season 2 spoiler, a lesbian teen rapper who is connected to a drug ring will join Lyon brothers in the company is also set to be introduced. She is also expected to become the 'next big thing' for Jamal.

"The show's producers are on the hunt for a baby-faced actress to play the recurring, potentially breakout role of Betty Barz - a "moody, outspoken" teenage rapper who'll be introduced in the Sept. 23 Season 2 premiere (9/8c on Fox), titled "The Devils Are Here," TVLine wrote last month.

"Betty, who's also known as "Betty Gathers" and "The Queen O' 16S" is described as African-American, 'unapologetically butch,' and something of a hometown hero in her 'Brownsville-Never-Ran-Never-Will, Brooklyn' neighborhood. Her undeniable talent has led to her winning 'more rhyme battles and girls' hearts than the best male vets on her block.' (We're guessing 'winning girls' hearts' means the new character is a lesbian, but then again, maybe that just means most of her mixtape buyers are female?)"

"Empire" season 2 release date is September 23. The sophomore run of the hit 2015 musical drama will have six more episodes compared to first season.
