Recent studies show that drinking two glasses of cranberry juice a day is helpful for heart disease patients to cut the risk, adding to the many benefits of the juice.
According to a report by website Xpose, cranberry juice contains polyphenols, the nutrients that guard the body against the causes of the disease, and help prevent degenerative and other heart-related diseases.
A team in the U.S. Department of Agriculture reportedly spearheaded the study and gathered results from 56 people who had the risks of the disease. One group was asked to drink the cranberry juice and the other was not.
The group that drank the cranberry juice for heart-related illnesses were given over three quarters of pint each day, the report said.
"It was found that the results in those who'd been glugging the juice had improved, decreasing their stroke risk by 15 percent and heart disease by ten percent," the Xpose report pointed out.
Polyphenols are compounds found in apples, olives, blueberries, grapes, chocolate and virgin olive oil and according to the report, there are more of these compounds in cranberry juice, making them effective for protecting the body against heart-related illnesses.
Franchise Herald earlier reported the benefits of chocolate in reducing heart diseases, just like how cranberry juice is perfect for heart patients.
A study published in the BMJ journal "Heart" said that patients can reduce heart disease risks by consuming chocolates.
Spearheaded by a University of Aberdeeen team, the research looked at data from about 21,000 people in England, and found that those who ate the most chocolate were the "least likely" to suffer from cardiovascular disease and stroke over the years.
Information from the American Heart Associate said heart diseases are the number one cause of death in the U.S., and has reportedly killed nearly 787,000 people in 2011 alone.
