Avril Lavigne was diagnosed with Lyme disease last year, and has since been on the road to recovery, according to People.
The pop star recently sat down for an interview with “Good Morning America” host Jesse Palmer on Monday to detail her ongoing battle with the illness.
“I’m doing a lot better; seeing a lot of progress,” stated Lavigne.
“I’m just really grateful to know that I will make a 100 percent recovery.”
The 30-year-old singer had to experience multiple misdiagnoses before finding a Lyme disease specialist to help her.
“I was in Los Angeles, and it was literally the worst time of my life,” stated Lavigne.
“I was seeing every specialist, and literally like the top doctors ... It was so stupid. They would pull up their computer and be like, 'Chronic fatigue syndrome' or 'Why don't you try to get out of bed, Avril, and just go play the piano?' or 'Are you depressed?' "
Lavigne was bedridden for five months following her diagnosis last October, according to CNN. The singer’s fans helped her through the difficult time.
“I sat there in my bed and I watched the videos and, like, did exactly what I'm doing now. I cried through the whole thing,” explained the “Fly” singer.
“Honestly, I felt very, very loved. And it sounds silly saying it, but I really truly did feel my fans through the process....There is hope. Lyme disease does exist. And you can get better."
