Model and "Asia's Next Top Model" Cycle 3 host Georgina Wilson did the signing of contracts and accepting of gigs without permission from her manager not only once or twice, but reportedly many times.
Reports said her manager Shirley Kuan was disheartened after knowing that Georgina Wilson accepted her recently concluded stint as the host of the reality modelling competition "Asia's Next Top Model 3" without asking for her permission.
"I think she has been emboldened because she thinks she's going international," Kuan said in a report by Inquirer.net, referring to Georgina Wilson's contract with "Asia's Next Top Model" which the model allegedly signed without going through Kuan.
But Kuan said in the report that she "let it slide" because she believes the hosting opportunity would be beneficial for her talent.
After the "Asia's Next Top Model" host once again closed a deal with a mobile phone company without going through Kuan, that was when things started to change. Georgina Wilson was reportedly dropped from Kuan's management roster as one of her talents.
This decision came after Samsung, a brand Georgina Wilson endorses, reportedly went directly to the model to close the deal.
"Samsung is run by unprofessional executives. Their agent called my office for Georgina and we gave them the rate. Then Samsung went straight to Georgina and closed the deal," Kuan said in a report by website Rappler. "The nerve!"
The Inquirer.net report also said the "Asia's Next Top Model" host has allegedly bypassed her manager many times before.
"She has done that before, but I kept quiet. She would make appearances at events thinking I wouldn't learn about it. This is a small industry!" her manager said.
Georgina Wilson has not reportedly made any statement on the issue aside from posting a photo on Instagram about her "big switch" to Samsung. But the report cited sources who said her defense is "there was no contract between her and Kuan," which Kuan said is true.
"There's no written contract, which is the norm in this industry. It's honor system. But we had a verbal contract, which is legally binding," her manager said in the report.
Do you think Georgina Wilson will still be the host for the next season of "Asia's Next Top Model"?
