The controversies surrounding the Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump affected the broadcast of the Miss USA 2015, a pageant his company owns, after NBC recently announced it is cutting business ties with the real estate mogul.
However, the Miss Universe Organization said the upcoming show on July 12 is pushing through despite the issues faced by its owner Donald Trump.
"The [Miss USA 2015] pageant will still take place in Baton Rouge on July 12th. We are disheartened by recent events but the show will go on," the organization said in an official Instagram post.
The announcement did not include details on whether the Miss USA 2015 pageant will broadcast the show on another network, so fans are left hanging whether they will be able to watch the pageant live on TV or not.
The Miss USA pageant had been aired by broadcast network NBC since Donald Trump brokered ties with the network in 2002, gaining the broadcast rights from CBS, the pageant's previous home network.
When NBC reportedly cut ties with Donald Trump, the Miss USA 2015 pageant - and possibly the Miss Universe 2015 pageant - has been affected. This came after the presidential candidate made derogatory statements against some Mexicans by tagging them as criminals, rapists and drug dealers.
US Weekly reported that no network has yet picked up the Miss USA 2015 broadcast after NBC decided to pull the entertainment ventures of Donald Trump from the network, including the Miss Universe pageant.
The Republican presidential candidate reportedly threatened to sue the network and called NBC "weak and foolish," adding that it did not understand the situation of illegal immigration problem in the U.S.
This year's pageant represents many different ethnic backgrounds with six Latinas, four of whom are of Mexican descent, in the official line-up according to the Miss USA 2015 Instagram post.
"Annually, nearly ten thousand young women all around the world participate in Miss Universe pageant events," the organization said. "We continue to welcome those from all backgrounds to enter our system."
The organization running the Miss USA 2015 pageant also said it recognizes that world politics will play a role, but emphasized that the pageant "will always seek to transcend controversy."
The pageant has previously announced hosts, judges and performers for the event, many of them are tied with NBC such as Thomas Roberts. It is still uncertain as to whether the network's decision involves pulling out some of the hosts and performers for the event.
"We want our supporters to know we remain committed to them and we will be conducting the pageant, regardless of the current situation," the organization said. "We are moving forward, full-steam ahead as planned for the next two weeks."
