The Android 5.1 Lollipop OTA update has started to roll out in some devices. Today Motorola confirmed that the Moto X(Second Generation) for Sprint receives the update today, while Verizon users have already updated their handsets last week, Soft Pedia reported.
The update brings several tweaks to the Moto X(Second Generation), but most importantly Factory Reset Protection has been added as one of its new features.
"Once a Google account is set on the Moto X (2nd) then the same login credentials are needed to reset the phone to its factory settings. So lost or stolen devices will remain locked and unauthorized reactivations will be prevented.,"
GSM Arena added.
"New Interruption controls allow managing the missed alarms and will let you reschedule them. Other improvements include new Volume settings panel icons and pull-down controls for Wi-Fi/Bluetooth devices selection."
Moreover, Android 5.1 Lollipop soak test have just began for the Motorola Droid Turbo, and if everything goes well users may start updating their handset from Android 4.4.4 Kitkat to the latest Android OS.
The announcement was made David Schuster, senior director for software product management at Motorola Mobility, on a Google+ post.
"I know this is going to make some people happy.... we have started the DROID Turbo soak test for the Android 5.1 upgrade this evening with our forum registered users. If all goes well we will open it up later this week."
On the other hand, HTC is also pushing its Android 5.1 Lollipop update to its flagship device HTC One M9 for Sprint.
Mo Versi, VP of product management at HTC USA confirmed on Twitter that the update will include camera improvements which could possibly offer better images of the HTC One M9 20MP Toshiba-made camera sensor. (
