Even before "Point Break" remake released its first trailer, the movie has been receiving many criticisms.
One of the original cast members recently shared her disapproval on Alcon Entertainment's latest reboot. During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter (via Den of Geek), Lori Petty bashed Ericson Core's upcoming film.
"I think it's the dumbest thing I've ever heard," she said. "Really? Patrick Swayze, Keanu Reeves, Kathyrn Bigelow - what are you gonna do? What are you thinking? Stupid!"
In the new "Point Break" movie, Luke Bracey takes on the role of Johnny Utah while Edgar Ramirez stars as Bodhi. Also included in the remake are Teresa Palmer, Ray Winstone, Delroy Lindo, and James Le Gros. The movie is scheduled for release on Dec. 25, 2015.
Lori Petty, who starred as Tyler in the 1991 Kathryn Bigelow film, was asked if she will watch the trailer. The 51-year-old actress still can't help but compare the original movie with the remake.
"It's the most beautiful movie when you look at it. [Bigelow] is a painter, so every frame is beautiful. No, I can't do it," she said referring to the "Point Break" remake trailer.
The screenwriter admitted that some people were not pleased with what she said about the film, but she stood by her word. "I got a phone call from my manager: 'why did you dis the new Point Break?' Because that's bullshit," Petty said. "That's some stupid shit right there!"
Apart from Lori, Keanu Reeves was also not that thrilled about the remake. During an interview with Moviefone, the 50-year-old actor what his thoughts are about the remake.
"Those people have a challenge and an expectation," he said. "I think it's cool that people are updating it or making that story their own. It means that the first film has a lot of affection and a classic legacy, which is cool. So to have another time take that and make it their own is great. But good luck. I wish them well."
The "Matrix" star was also asked if he will watch Luke Bracey and Edgar Ramirez's new movie.
"Sure. Yeah. Let's go have a weird Wednesday and go see 'Point Break.' Is it still going to be called 'Point Break'?" Reeves asked.
The website confirmed and he replied: "You've got to update it. You have to make it your own. I just wonder if they'll call it 'Point Break: Extreme.'"
