Social Media Is Diverse About #LoveWins, Same-Sex Marriage In The US: From The Funniest Posts To The Most Beautiful

| By

Before the diversity among the LGBT community that celebrated after the legalization of same-sex marriage in the U.S., there was diversity on social media among people who posted statements ranging from funny, beautiful and serious.

Members of the LGBT community, along with prominent celebrities and politicians, rejoiced after the Supreme Court ruling that made same-sex marriage - along with other provisions - a right nationwide.

Franchise Herald turned to social media to see the pulse of the online world, and hear what they say about the ruling. What was found out was a diverse reaction, and we would like to share some of the best reactions on social media as we rate them from serious, funny and most beautiful.

#LoveWins: Serious Posts

Incorporating the hashtag #LoveWins, reactions are two-sided when it comes to same-sex marriage in the U.S., one group advocates for equality and the other remains strong in their religious beliefs.

"To speak out about this issue with any dissenting voice is targeted as 'hate speech' and discrimination," pastor and Bible teacher Skip Heitzig wrote on his Facebook page, "But as I've been listening to the rhetoric the past few days, it seems that those with a pro-gay agenda feels it's perfectly okay to discriminate against... anyone who stands up for the traditional family."

Another Facebook user who supports same-sex marriage in the U.S. focused on the other clauses in the ruling. She said, "Marriage equality was approved not as a religious right, but as a law of the land. It is allowing couples, regardless of gender to enjoy spousal privileges. With me so far? Good."

#LoveWins: Funny Posts

With all the seriousness on same-sex marriage in the U.S, the social media was also to break the ice with jokes and funny posts about the issue.

Comedian and TV host Jimmy Kimmel quipped, "President Obama came out with approval of same-sex marriage. He said that, over the years, he has been going through an evolution on the issue. That makes opponents on the far right doubly angry. They don't believe in gay marriage OR evolution."

There were also users who posted memes that seemed to mock the same-sex marriage ruling in the U.S. One of the most popular are posts that said, "God created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve."

But perhaps the funniest was the joke about a girl who was "unable to get the rainbow-filter profile picture memo," and was shown by one Instagram user as someone who literally painted her face with the colors of the rainbow instead of using the online filter.

#LoveWins: The Beautiful

Despite all the seriousness and the jokes, most of the people online were able to see the beauty in legalizing same-sex marriage in the U.S.

Renowned host and fashion critic Giuliana Rancic posted a photo of her and her husband after the wedding ceremony with a caption, "Just came across this picture and can't help but recall the pure joy I felt in this moment. So happy all of us can now have a day like this."
